Our Involvement with the Hire and Rental Industry in Australia: Empowering Future Leaders and Supporting Diversity
The Hire and Rental Industry Association promote hire as the preferred choice for Australian businesses and consumers through supporting members, developing people and growing the industry. RPM Hire has been a member of the HRIA since 2018 and prides itself on being intertwined with these industry professionals who support professional development, encourage diversity, and help shape the future of the hire and rental industry.
In this blog post, we delve into our experience with programs such as the Young Professionals in Hire program and the Women in Hire program, both of which play important roles in professional and personal development.
We nominate our team members for these programs to give them opportunities to gain hands-on experience, attend industry events, and participate in training workshops. The Young Professionals in Hire program and the Women in Hire program reflect our core values: “People Matter,” “Thirst for Improvement,” and “Be Courageous.” In these programs, the mentees are paired up with a mentor who assists them through the program. We believe it’s essential for our team to live out these values in their daily lives. By investing in our team, we not only enhance their future but also contribute to the growth and success of our industry.
Driving the Future with the Young Professionals in Hire Program
The Young Professionals in Hire program was created to identify, nurture, and empower the next generation of industry leaders. It is a great platform for young professionals to build strong networks, develop essential skills, and gain insights from experienced mentors.
At RPM Hire, we understand the importance of fostering growth and development. We have had active participants in this program over the past several years and have seen the immense benefit of enrolling team members on this program. Our team is particularly committed to empowering young professionals and helping them understand the tremendous potential within the Hire and Rental sector. We believe in providing them with a program where they can learn, grow, and take their careers to new levels. We currently have 5 of our team across Australia enrolled in this program. Let’s hear from one!
“The HRIA Young Professionals in Hire Program has been great for me. It has helped me gain a greater insight into myself but also gain so much from the wealth of knowledge from everyone in the room who have shared so much of themselves. This is something that I have not experienced before. I was then given the opportunity to present to people who I hold in such high regard. This was a great moment for me and one that I took a lot of pride in”. – Stephen Taylor, National Barrier Operations Manager (Young Professionals in Hire program participant)
Promoting Diversity with the Women in Hire Program
The HRIA Women in Hire Program is the first of its kind and encourages diversity and inclusion within the Hire and Rental Industry. This initiative aims to highlight the invaluable contribution of women to the industry and create a more inclusive and balanced work environment.
At RPM Hire, we have a strong focus on encouraging women to pursue careers in the Hire and Rental sector, breaking down barriers, and providing mentorship and leadership opportunities. Our involvement in the Women in Hire program has given our team the chance to collaborate with other like-minded people and organisations and share the best practices for supporting women in the workplace. We are passionate about creating an environment where women can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the growth and success of the hire and rental industry. This year we are proud to have 3 of our team members participating in the HRIA Women in Hire program.
We had a conversation with Peta Twyman to learn about her experience in the program. “Joining the Women in Hire program has been a transformative experience. What began as a chance to gain new skills and expand my network has turned into a journey of self-discovery, both personally and professionally. The workshops have pushed me to dig deeper and challenge myself beyond surface-level goals. The most valuable part has been working with my incredible mentor, whose belief in me and guidance has been truly empowering. I’m excited to continue growing, learning, and embracing new challenges ahead.” – Peta Twyman, Operations Scheduler (Women in Hire program participant)
This program provides women access to leadership training, networking events, and career development opportunities. At RPM Hire we firmly believe that by promoting diversity and ensuring women have equal opportunities to succeed, we can drive innovation and create a more dynamic, inclusive and competitive industry.
Building a Thriving, Inclusive Future in the Hire and Rental Industry
Our involvement with Australia’s Hire and Rental Industry extends beyond providing high-quality equipment and services. We are committed to nurturing the talent and diversity within our team that will drive the future of this sector. By supporting programs such as Young Professionals in Hire and Women in Hire, we are helping to align with our core values and shaping the next generation of leaders. Creating an inclusive and supportive work environment and fostering innovation that will benefit our business and the industry is essential.
At RPM Hire, we are proud to be part of this dynamic and forward-thinking industry. We look forward to continuing our efforts in empowering future leaders and promoting diversity. Together, we can build a stronger, more sustainable Hire and Rental Industry in Australia, one that thrives on safety, talent, innovation and inclusivity.
